Yoga, meditation & breathwork can be used as tools to tap into the body and mind - offering oneself a sense of connectedness and wholeness, helping to encourage a closeness between mom & baby, and often bringing about an overall sense of peace.
Yoga can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, often can alleviate aches and pains related to pregnancy, help reduce nausea, headaches, and even encourage better sleep.
We can set up your session in the comfort of your own home, outdoors at a local park, or another location that feels comfortable to you. Your yoga session can be personalized to your comfort level, and modifications are available to make it feel accessible to you.
I will lead you through a single 1-hour prenatal yoga session that begins with a short breathwork, leading into a gentle warmup and through a series of gentle yoga movement safe for pregnancy. We will avoid any unsafe postures that are not recommended for pregnancy. We will focus on light stretching, strength and endurance, with some of the focus on muscles needed for childbirth. Practice concludes with a gentle cooldown and brief relaxation.
Meditation and breathwork can be a helpful tool used to tune into the body. In pregnancy, this can create a sense of connectedness between mother & baby.
This will be a single visit ranging from 45 min to 1-hour where we will work through a guided meditation and breath work session with some gentle seated body movement. The guided breathwork session will be focused on a technique called dirgha pranayama.
This three-part yoga breath is meant to calm the mind and nervous system, bring about a sense of peace and connectedness to your body and overall help reduce anxiety and stress.
We will end your meditative session by having a brief reflection, and I will offer you the opportunity to journal about your experience and thoughts.
I completed my 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training through Pranakriya at the end of October 2020. I went on to earn additional certifications towards my 300-Hour such as: Anatomy for Yoga Practitioners & Teachers, Musculoskeletal Assessment, Meditation: Theory & Teaching, Pranayama: Theory & Teaching, The Client Relationship: Cultivating Intuitive Presence, The Universe Inside the Body of a Yogi: A Journey Into the Chakras, Granthis, and Nadis, and Understanding the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. The majority of my teaching has been gentle yoga focused, using gentle meditation techniques and with an emphasis on making Yoga accessible for every body. It's always important to discuss with your provider prior to starting any new fitness routine, even a gentle yoga practice.
